Warbound #4 is a comic written by Marcel Dupree & Guido Martinez with art by Gaurav Shrivastava. Warbound and Sigh must fight for their lives to get out of this prison. This issue starts off hot and ends the same way. Our main man is Warbound, an immortal man with superhuman everything just about. Our current leading lady is a woman named Sigh with sound-based abilities and fighting skills of a ninja. The big bad is a man named Abraxas who has a bunch of powers and is very possessed. The plot is pretty straightforward; Warbound and Sigh are trying to escape but can’t let Abraxas get free due to the destruction he’d cause. So yes, this issue has a lot of violence and gore. Body parts go missing, holes are created, and death is rampant. This isn’t one of those stories where people get knocked out and left unharmed; things here get messy real fast. The dialogue by the characters is current for the most but Abraxas tends to speak a bit more poetically. And there are more than a few wordy pages here as we get to hear Warbound’s inner thoughts. Overall this is an action-packed issue that pushes the story forward and gives us an up close look at the true power of our leads and what they’re truly up against.
This comic showcases a lot of action-oriented art with a decent range of colors for a prison but the main hue we’ll be seeing is red. This story takes place in or around the prison so the backgrounds are pretty much always going to be a dull color. This comic has a very high level of expression and it encompasses more than just anger. We see the grimaces, disgust, and confusion splayed across these well detailed faces. The faces here are drawn with focus from the top down to the wrinkles. Even the background characters seem full of life. The musculature of the heavy hitters is well done with it looking like two pro wrestlers squaring off. The action flows like a river during heavy rains and nearly every attack we see draws blood. It gets very gory in this comic and doesn’t let up once it starts. We do get to see Sigh in her regular costume for the first time.
