Hellcats #3 is a comic with story and pencils by John A. Rhodes and colors by Avery Ferdinand. Strange dreams lead to these ladies hatching a plan to steal something from the Hellcats. This is a science fiction superheroine comic that is fast-paced, quite violent, and extremely sexual. The leading lady here is unnamed with black hair and she has been plagued with odd dreams that seem to be visions. She is in a relationship with Cali, a redheaded woman with dual Rugers and a raccoon-themed costume. This story begins with this unnamed woman getting a bit poetic as she her latest dream gets underway. The situation turns graphically sexual very fast but after waking up this woman questions what exactly is going on. This takes place in a world where superpowered beings are somewhat common. The violence here can get gruesome with some body part separation. This moves at a fast pace and it has a bank robbery movie-like feel. This is more sexually and violently intense than anything with little dramatics. The dialogue here is mostly conversational with short and witty responses but there is some thought narration from the dark-haired lead. There aren’t any word-heavy pages here. This is a an intriguing issue that will entice the senses and raise a number of questions as these two ladies come on the scene and shake an already volatile environment up even more.
The art here is drawn in a very detailed style with a realistic aim and very well done lighting and shading. This does have a modern sci-fi color palette with a lot of cool tones specifically blue and silver. Outer space is the bulk of the natural scenery we’ll see from stars to planets. There are a few primary locations here with the first one being these ladies’ high-rise apartment and the others being in the cosmos. Backgrounds consistently show the actual surroundings which can help you stay locked in to each scene. The expression level here is high as these characters can have varied reactions multiple times per page. Emotionally we’ll see a lot of confusion, shock and anger along with some more sensual looks. Faces here have strong features from the eyes to the lips which results in both the overt and subtle expressions being very clear. There is some face sameness here among the women but you shouldn’t confuse them. The use of superpowers tends to come across as electric or smoky. Violence here is of standard superhero fare but there is a gruesome spike. When the action starts it doesn’t really end but there are slight lulls; the panel count is high it all flows smoothly. All of the women here wear skintight and/or revealing clothing while having model-like bodies and large breasts.
