Legends of the Realm: The Floated Dream is a comic written by Jack Holder with illustrations by Evan Scale. While on a quest The Mage of Dannisfire pays a visit to a floating city. This is a supernatural fantasy tale with a bit of mystery and drama. The main man in this tale is Camriddeon, he is the court mage for the King of Dannisfire and he is currently on a quest that is taking him around the kingdom. The story begins at his first stop, which is the floating city of Providentia. He is being escorted around by a woman named Rina and he is in awe of the uniqueness of this place. However, this leads to some questions. This takes place in a world with fantasy hallmarks like the classic races, creatures, and magic. The violence here is very physical with no blood and light gore. The pacing here is steady with some fast moments. The tone is that of a somewhat lighthearted fantasy tale. There some intense moments due to danger and violence. The dialogue here is conversational with a lot of back-and-forth and the characters speak in a proper tone. There are some thick text bubbles but no word-heavy pages. This is an intriguing debut issue that gives us an interesting lead with powerful abilities and puts them in a world that you’ll want to dive into.
This is drawn in a detailed modern style with decent shading. There is a wide range of colors with a good mix of lights and darks. The scenery here consists of hilly grounds, forests, rocky open spaces, and plenty of clouds. The characters here are on the move constantly but the general location tends to be the city or the countryside with some more unique place visited. The backgrounds usually show the surroundings with gradient colors being rare. The expression level here is a tick below average as Camriddeon likes to maintain a determined look. When it comes to emotions we’ll get a lot of anger and some fear. The faces here have a good amount of detail and show the different expressions clearly with little to no confusion. The magical effects are bright and tend to be light blue. The violence here is physical and involves magic but there isn’t any blood but there is light gore. The action scenes come in bursts and feature a decent amount of panels.
