The Bombshell Black Kitty is a comic written and drawn by Steve Messenger. Mirri gains fascinating powers and abilities after an accident at a research complex. This is a science fiction superheroine parody comic with messy young folk drama, brutal combat, and many references to well-known characters and franchises. The leading lady here is Mirri, she is a high school(or college) student who has a crush on her friend’s boyfriend. Emma Jade is her friend and the boyfriend’s name is Jimmy. This story begins with this trio and all their classmates walking into Banter and Stank University while their teacher explains how unique this opportunity is. Esma Jade has to leave early because her job just texted her but Mirri saw the text and doubts that it was her job. This takes place in a world where superpowers are not out of the ordinary. The violence here can be hard-hitting with some gory gruesomeness. This moves at an overall steady pace with the first half being a bit slower then second. This has the obvious tone of a Spider-Man origin story with a few other Marvel references. The intensity is also a tale of two halves with drama being high at the beginning but violence taking over near the end. The dialogue is very conversational with snark, aggression, light humor, and plenty of back-and-forth. There is at least one word-heavy page. This is an entertaining comic that puts multiple spins on a classic hero while adding sexiness, young adult drama, and more than a few references to well-known characters.
The art here is drawn in a soft, smoothly detailed modern style with strong lighting. This has a realistic color palette with more dark tones than light. This takes place mainly inside or around buildings with the only shot of natural scenery being a tree and some shrubs outside of the university. The two main locations here are the Banter and Stank School of Quantum Gamma Dynamics and Mirri’s apartment. Backgrounds are split between showing actual surroundings from furniture to the walls and just being a cloudy gradient color. The expression level here is around average as these characters can seem stiff on occasion. Emotions shown here are disgust, anger, shock, confusion, and happiness. Faces have a level of detail hovering around average with eyes being the most prominent feature and the different looks usually being clear. There aren’t any weapons used here outside of fists and feet. The violence is hard-hitting with environmental destruction and a bloody gruesome moment that leads to some gore. There is only one action scene and it is lengthy with brief pauses and location changes. Mirri wears a very revealing outfit and has a large bust and butt; most of the women here are built like fit models.
