The Vicious Vixens of Dakuwanga #4 is a comic written by Ben Lacy with art by Nico Toran. This group of women’s forced excursion in Peru hits a standstill after they are captured. This is an adventurous treasure hunting comic with heavy violence, sinister drama, and that stars a large cast of varied and interesting women. There are eight leading ladies here with names that describe some aspect of their origins or personality: Big Sis is the leader, Lil Sis is the youngest, Blondie is strong and tall, Jamaica is strong and fast, Knives is quick and deadly, Fiji is a positive fighter, Fish Hook is a skilled survivalist, and Doc was almost a doctor. All of these ladies have been recently captured by a businessman who is forcing them to find a treasure in Peru. This story begins where the last issue ended which was with most of these women being held at gunpoint by a Peruvian gang. When an unexpected distraction occurs these ladies start to fight back in a desperate attempt to get away. This story takes place primarily in the jungles and caves of Peru in an overall realistic world. The violence here can get very gruesome and bloody with a decent bit of gore. This moves at a steady pace with a mix of talk-heavy and action-packed pages. This has the tone of an adventurous treasure hunting movie; think of something like National Treasure but with more women and higher stakes. There is an almost even balance of very dramatic and violent moments. The dialogue here is very conversational with constant back-and-forth, aggression, and the occasional joke. Though some bubbles can get thick there aren’t any word-heavy pages here. This is an exciting and adventurous issue with a riveting story that stars skilled and determined women with large personalities who are trying save themselves and each other.
The art here is drawn in a detailed modern style with decent lighting and shading. There is a realistic level of coloring here and the palette primarily features green, brown, and gray. For scenery there are thick jungles with dirt paths and cramped, cool caves. The main is the outdoors in general as these ladies are traveling to a specific location but there are some indoor scenes featuring other characters. Backgrounds here tend to show the actual surroundings though they can have a slight blur to them. The expression level here is very high as these ladies rarely ever hide how they truly feel. Emotions go from the aggressive and determined to the fearful and somber as these characters deal with the intense situations differently. Faces here have an above-average amount of detail(specifically the eyes) with lines and wrinkles that help clearly show the different expressions. There is some slight face sameness among the women but you shouldn’t get anybody confused. Weapons used here are firearms or blades. The violence here can be very gruesome with plenty of blood and some gore. There is one main action scene that flows well with a high number of panels and a variety of angles. Most of these women wear revealing clothing that show a lot of skin.
